Fracture Rib Pattern

A Caltrans Favorite

This vertical pattern has ribs running top to bottom that look randomly broken with as much relief as 2″ from peak to trough. Vertical shadows are almost always present.

This pattern is often used where long runs of taller walls are required along roadways. The ribbing may play a role in helping to diffuse sound. It also makes for a poor canvas for even the most committed graffiti taggers.
